Welcome to the 1st Tech Tahs Website Newsletter!
Firstly, how good’s this website? Many thanks go to Old Boy Wayne Cooney for his herculean effort in putting it all together, but he didn’t do it alone. Thanks also go to Life Member Rick Boyle for putting together the Tech Club history and to Life Member Ron Wessel for collecting the Waratah Club history.
Whilst we don’t have any games to talk about, we can let you what’s happening in Rugby.
Rugby Australia has just appointed a new Chairman, in Hamish McLennan. NSW Rugby has been issuing regular updates as to the current status of returning to play and government decisions. Currently, we are still not training or playing until the Public Health Order has been lifted. NSWRU does not have a timeline of when the Office of Sport will be releasing more information.
“Illawarra Rugby is currently deciding whether to hold a season of Rugby in 2020 at all. ”

Currently the Senior competition is penciled in to commence at the beginning of the 2nd Round of games, being the 27th of June. Some clubs want to play as soon as possible. Some clubs do not want to play at all. The final decision rest entirely with the Board but they are considering several possibilities.
The club is still issuing a newsletter, the Tech-Tah Talk, an in-season weekly update of what’s happening at the club with several opinion pieces from our President Al Gregory (Prez Sez) and Vice President Graham Letham (VEEP Report). This year on the 20th Anniversary of the clubs first 1st Grade Premiership, we are also doing a run-down of the Year 2000 Season and if we do get on the field, our Annual Old Boys Day was also the re-union of that 1st Grade Premiership team.
So if you want to keep up-to-date with all that happens at the club, make sure you subscribe!
We are still also on the hunt for any and all old photos, or videos, that any past and present Tech Tahs may have. We are wanting to collect and make a copy of them to upload on the site as a permanent record and maybe bring back the occasional memory.
If this Isolation period has taught us anything, it’s the value of the what the Tech Tahs club means – Family – and how important it is to stick together.
